The volume Prímásegyéniségek – Upper Bodrogköz and the Regions Beyond the River offers practical support for violinists interested in the string music traditions of the region. When selecting the transcribed melodies, the primary aim was to include pieces that are preserved in the most complete possible form and that are also musically engaging from a violinist’s perspective.
The backbone of the volume consists of recordings by the primás Oláh “Nyaka” Árpád from Poľany, and by Oláh “Dili” Dezső, who performed mainly as a cimbalom player in his ensemble but was also an outstanding violinist. In addition, the publication includes melodies transcribed from the playing of Tibor Tóth from Veľké Kapušany and Kálmán Lénárt from Deregnyő.
The volume also includes audio recordings of the transcribed melodies, as well as several video recordings.
