Ifjú Szivek Dance Theatre from Bratislava is a defining example of Hungarian cultural life in Slovakia and the Hungarian folkdance movement. Their performances originate from the traditional dance and music culture of the many ethnic communities living within the Carpathian Basin. The authentic representation of this traditional dance combined with modern theatrical techniques is what makes their work unique. In Dusan Hégli's productions, covering more than a decade and consisting of fourteen full length shows and almost one hundred choreographies, the music has always played an outstanding and integral part.

The Ifjú Szivek band members are all prominent representatives of this genre, exceptional musicians, who in their work both with this group and in many other combinations play a leading role in the phenomena of traditional and world-music today. Dances from Pressburg is a small selection from the band’s extensive repertoire. This CD includes the music from some of Ifjú Szivek's most memorable choreographies, each given the title of the dance programme it was taken from.
